The Level 5 Early Years Lead Practitioner Apprenticeship has been a truly empowering experience. It's not just about gaining a qualification; it's about personal and professional transformation.

My path to this apprenticeship wasn't a traditional one. I returned to work after focusing on raising my children, initially taking on a role as a lunchtime supervisor before progressing to a part-time TA in KS1.
I felt a need to challenge myself and see what more I was capable of achieving professionally.
The thought of returning to formal learning after a significant break was a little daunting - I even remember wondering if I was "too old" for it!
However, my deep passion for Early Years and my desire to take on more leadership responsibilities ultimately pushed me to enrol in the Level 5 apprenticeship.
I feel more confident, more knowledgeable, and more driven in my role. For anyone in Early Years looking to develop their leadership skills and make a real difference, I wholeheartedly recommend this apprenticeship.
My career goals have evolved. This apprenticeship has actually inspired me to aim higher. I'm now planning to do a top-up degree and eventually become a qualified teacher – something I hadn't seriously considered before.

Applying my apprenticeship assignments on audit evidence directly contributed to our academy achieving 'Platinum' safeguarding status.

I've already signed up with Derby University to do the Level 6 top-up in September. I then plan to get a PGCE. Within three years, hopefully, I will be a qualified teacher.

The apprenticeship was the best way to learn. In IT, what you learn from a book and real life are totally different. Doing it in the workplace keeps your skills up to date; IT moves so fast. A traditional IT course is almost immediately out of date, but as the apprenticeship is work-based learning, the skills are always current and relevant.
