Lift Lea Forest named ‘Primary School of the Year’

Lift Lea Forest has secured the top spot in the West Midlands as 'Primary School of the Year', The Sunday Times' annual schools guide has revealed.

The Birmingham school was ranked the best primary in the West Midlands as part of The Sunday Times Parent Power Guide 2026 that assesses and ranks primary and secondary state, grammar, and independent schools across the UK.

The primary league tables are compiled based on the school's most recent performance in Year 6 SATs for English, Maths, and grammar. The scores for reading, grammar, punctuation and spelling, and mathematics are averaged to calculate the final rankings, which list the top 1,000 state primary schools in England.

Mark White, Head of School at Lift Lea Forest, spoke of his delight at the achievement. 

"We are all delighted and proud to be named ‘Primary School of the Year’ in our area," he said. "Our mission at Lea Forest is to inspire our children every day to reach their full potential and to give them a brilliant education."

He also thanked the wider community for their support, adding: "We have a vibrant and thriving school community and I would like to thank our staff and school team, and our fantastic pupils and families for all their support in us achieving such a fantastic accomplishment."

Nabila Jiwa, Regional Education Director for Lift Schools, added: "This is wonderful news for the entire Lift Lea Forest community. We are truly delighted to be recognised for our academic excellence and for the vital work we do in nurturing personal development and social skills," she said. "Our aim is always to ensure our young people are happy, confident, and thriving, and this award affirms that commitment.”
