Reading time:

Lift Schools is celebrating brilliant primary results this week across Early Years, key stage 1 phonics, and the Year 4 Multiplication Check.

Key stage 1: phonics outcome

Our key stage 1 phonics results were strong again this year:

  • 89% of our Year 1 pupils passed the phonics screening check.
  • This is equal to our 2025 outcome and sits 9 percentage points (ppt) higher than the 2025 national average (80%).
  • 15 out of 32 schools achieved 90% or higher.

A special congratulations goes to Lift Ashingdon, Lift Four Dwellings Primary, and Lift Offa’s Mead for crossing the 90%+ threshold. They were joined in the 90%+ group by:

Closing the gap

Disadvantaged pupils, including those qualifying for pupil premium, delivered an excellent performance - outperforming the national average for non-disadvantaged students by 2 ppt (2026 vs 2025).

Principal at Lift Ashingdon Charlotte Leasure said: “We are incredibly proud of our pupils and staff for our wonderful phonics outcomes. Learning to read unlocks the door to every aspect of the curriculum so seeing our children develop into confident, enthusiastic readers is something worth celebrating. Our phonics screening check results are a testament to the dedication of our team, the support of our families and, above all, the hard work of our children."

Year 4 Multiplication Table Check

The Multiplication Table Check (MTC) entered its fifth year, with Lift Schools pupils securing some brilliant results.

  • 63% of pupils achieved full marks (25/25) - up from 59% in 2025.
  • This figure was 26 ppt above the 2025 national average of 37%.
  • 18 schools achieved a score of 60% or higher this year, up from 11 in 2025.

Standout performers include:

  • Lift Trinity remained our highest-performing school, maintaining its 95% score rate.
  • Lift Montgomery was one of our standout risers among the highest-performing schools, growing by 28 percentage points to reach 90% full marks this year.

Lift Montgomery was one of our standout risers among the highest-performing schools in Year 4 MTC marks.

Disadvantaged pupils

This year, 56% of disadvantaged pupils achieved full marks (up from 52% in 2025). It keeps Lift Schools in line with the 2025 national disadvantage gap while lifting overall achievement.

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

Our youngest learners also saw fantastic progress, with 76.9% achieving a Good Level of Development (up 2.4ppt from last year and 8.6ppt above the 2025 national average).

Furthermore, 74.7% of children met the expected standard across all 17 Early Learning Goals (up 2.1ppt from last year and 7.8ppt above the 2025 national average).

Free school meals (FSM) progress

This year, 70% of pupils eligible for Free School Meals achieved a Good Level of Development, up from 69% in 2025. While a gap remains compared to non-FSM pupils (80%), which we are committed to closing, outcomes for our FSM students continue to move in the right direction.

Lift Trinity

Chris Taylor, Deputy Director of Primary at Lift Schools, said: “These results are a powerful reflection of the collective effort, expertise and ambition of our staff, together with the resilience and determination shown by our pupils. They are also testament to our relentless and ongoing commitment to ensuring every child secures the foundational reading skills that unlock future success, enabling them to thrive throughout their education and beyond.”
