Lift Schools expands Early Years provision with nursery openings

New nursery facilities have opened at Lift Hamford Primary and Lift Shafton, made possible through successful government grant applications.

These openings represent another step in our mission to provide high-quality early education and a seamless transition into school life for our youngest learners.

Children at Lift Hamford have been exploring their new nursery facilities and forming their first school friendships.

Lift Hamford, in Essex, celebrated the launch of its school-based nursery in January. The new facility offers 15 term-time spaces for children aged two to four. The children have already begun to settle in, exploring their new environment and forming their first school friendships.

The launch event featured a ribbon-cutting by Lift Schools Director of Primary Ruth Murad, cheered on by a countdown from the children and local authority partner guests Rachael Farrow and Diane Macefield. Following the ceremony, the children enjoyed a celebratory tea and took home branded tote bags to mark the occasion.

Ruth Murad said: “I am delighted to open the nursery at Lift Hamford. This is a very welcome addition to the school and having a nursery on site means we can provide a seamless educational journey for children, meaning the number of changes the children experience is reduced, when they join full time school in Reception.

“I would also like to thank the children very much for counting down so beautifully for me to cut the ribbon.”

School staff, Lift Schools representatives and children celebrated the opening of new nursery facilities at Lift Hamford.

Acting Head of School Noelene Vorster at Lift Hamford added:

“Thank you to everyone who came to our nursery opening and celebratory tea. We know our local families would like their children to start nursery with us and continue on to school.

“This new provision means we will be able to meet the needs of our community, whilst maintaining our reputation for offering children a high standard of education at Hamford.”

Applications for summer spaces at Lift Hamford are now open for the next academic year.

Earlier in January, Lift Shafton, in Barnsley, opened its new nursery, providing 15 full-time places for three and four-year-olds. The opening was marked by a day of play and exploration for the children, attended by Lift Schools representatives Lucy Snowden (Trust Link), Nigel Whittle (Regional Education Director for the North), and members of the Academy Council and local family support services.

These new sites join Lift Montgomery, which opened its facilities last year, in expanding access to early years education across the Trust.

Lift Trinity is set to open its own nursery facilities later this year. By integrating these nurseries directly into primary schools, Lift Schools is supporting the government’s goal of expanding access to early years education and ensuring every child has the best possible start to their learning journey.

The new nursery opened at Lift Shafton last month,  providing 15 full-time places for three and four-year-olds.
